But at the time, it was not well regarded, so it was not implemented until 1797 when John Rollo tested some soldiers who have diabetes.
A female officer who was obese was subjected to this diet and began to lose weight and see improvements in her body.
Elliot Joslin also carried out studies based on the principles of this ketogenic diet, from which he obtained favourable results.
This practice continued to be implemented mainly in patients with diabetes, which was of great help. However, the discovery and implementation of insulin for patients with diabetes proved to be a great relief.
What foods to eat?
To follow a ketogenic diet, you should eat foods low in carbohydrates and sugar, so you should increase your intake of vegetables, greens and meats.
- Butter, if it comes from cattle.
- Cream cheese.
- Cheese, but it should not be processed.
- Nuts, such as almonds, walnuts or seeds.
- Vegetable oils, such as olive, avocado or coconut oil.
- Vegetables, but especially green and low carbohydrate vegetables, such as onions, peppers.
- Seasonings of natural origin.
- Meat can be beef, pork, chicken, turkey, sausage and ham.
